Oh wow, butthurt much?
She was just suggesting that OP maybe find out a little about the character before she cosplayed as her. I normally dont care, but I can see how some people may be a little annoyed if someone cosplays up as a character they know nothing about.
No need to get so friggen offended. Grow a thicker skin please.

I regularly patrol conventions in costume, looking for whoever wears a costume of te same character, and challenge them to a trivia contest. Loser has to take off the costume. Because costuming is all about knowing random trivia.

Is it bad that, provided both people had clothes to change into (because I know I'm not the only one who is not confident enough to wander around a con in my underwear), I think this would be an awesome game? I don't much care if someone wants to dress up as a character they don't know much about so long as they don't lie and say they do. Nothing like wanting to squee with someone over your favorite character because they're cosplaying as them/have them on the front of their tshirt, only to realize they've got no clue what you're talking about.

It's not bad, actually, as soon as I finished typing it I started trying to think of ways it could work.

Okay, devil's advocate moment here.

So you go to a con. You see somebody dressed as someone from your favorite fandom! Wonderful! You have somebody to go over and talk to! An icebreaker! A chance to make a new friend! That might not be the easiest thing for you but now you've got an in! Here goes... aw dammit. Not even in the fandom! That was misleading!

Judging the emotions of others in this way makes you as contemptible. You are also the wipe of the ass, ya judgmental fuckhead.

Now, what's the difference between you and the other person then? The difference is in actions. Feeling does not equate to action. Somebody who gets annoyed or disappointed can still be polite about it. By the same token, somebody jumping on somebody else for showing a bit of honesty on a board that encourages confession has done an action, which is far more valid for judgement.

I'm sure you can come up with some action of mine that could be judged in negative light. Doesn't mean I'm wrong right now fucko.
