Re: Transgenderism or whatever.

nayrt, but I also consider it interesting that "I don't consider my left arm a valid part of me and I identify as a person with one arm, so I want to have my left arm surgically removed" is considered a mental disorder but replace "left arm" with "the sexual characteristics peculiar to the sex I was born" and we're supposed to celebrate it and consider it completely normal. Why are these two things so different?

How about if someone is born with a severe birth defect that hinders their ability to live and thrive? Should we embrace babies with cleft lips instead of trying to surgically repair the defects?

Trans people aren't freaks who decide one day that they'd rather get something chopped off for kicks. It's a fucking birth defect.

Mutilating your genitalia to fit the societal norm you wish to fit into isn't the same thing as a cleft palate being fixed.

It IS scary that a mental illness is celebrated and people who need help are allowed to go under the knife.

Boo. Fucking. Hoo. Professionals less ignorant than you have decided that it's an acceptable risk for trans people (as opposed to, say, letting them kill themselves because it's more traumatizing than you will ever know to have your body not match your self). And you know what? It doesn't affect you. At all. So you have no say in the matter.

but it IS the same as having your arm chopped off??

nobody's asking you to celebrate mental illness, only that you stop farting out of your ass clarinet about things you don't understand.

Do you believe that trans people only get surgery to conform to the norms of society? Do you honestly think that every single trans person is so concerned with other people's expectations that we would all desire a different body simply to appeal to the masses?

Do you also think that people with, say, large scars in places most nobody sees shouldn't want to get them surgically altered? Do you not understand that sometimes people go through a lot just to make themselves more comfortable in their own skin, regardless of what anyone else thinks?

I don't want a penis just because society thinks I should have one if I'm going to be a man. Nobody but the one I'm fucking needs to know if I have a penis or not. I want a penis because it actually feels empty and wrong to me to not have one. A packie/stand-to-pee device might fill that emptiness, or perhaps my clitoral growth on HRT will - I don't know. I don't care what makes that particular emptiness go away, whether society considers it a penis or not, I only care that my body feels less wrong to me.

No matter how many times you hack and stitch and drug yourself, you will never be the gender you wish you are. You are the gender you were born with. In a few hundred years, if someone found your remains and did a DNA test, you would register as the sex you were born as.

They we-ill never be the sex hey feel like, but they might feel happy in their own body If adults want to change their appearance surgically to match what's inside, who cares? You hear a lot less shit about people having plastic surgery to look younger, while obviously they're not changing their biological age, either.
