You need to realize that not everyone grows up around Trans*, and that to someone it can be seen as a legitimate mental disorder. If you had schizophrenia, I wouldn't be telling you to embrace the voices in your head.

Expecting everyone, everywhere, to accept you as everything you wish you are/believe yourself to be, then you're going to be vastly disappointed. No one gets that sort of treatment.

nobody wants to embrace being trans* tho. nobody really wants to be trans* period. we just want to be comfortable in our bodies. telling a schizophrenic to embrace their disorder would be like telling a trans* person to embrace the state of being trans*; ergo, embrace the discomfort.

as trans* people it is not our job or responsibility to educate people, especially ignorant ones. that being said, a lot of us go out of our way to do so regardless, but just because someone doesn't grow up around trans* people doesn't give them permission to be dismissive or hurtful. not accepting us is both of those, and oftentimes is incredibly hateful as well. that hate sometimes gets trans* people abused and killed. you act like ignorance is something to be tolerated in light of this. it's not.
