Yeah, it sounds like a new film genre. Like dark films where the plot lines are about women haters.

Wait, I watch Film Noir. I can't recall a single movie where the plot line revolved around a woman hater. Usually it was about finding murderers, stolen goods and having to meet someone at the docks at a certain hour.

Them boys didn't have time for no broads.

But if we take an honest look at it (and it's hardly the only movies of the time guilty of this) a lot of times those girls were arm candy, mcguffins, or femme fatales if you saw them. Who may or may not end up the main characters sweetheart by the end.

It's more an underlying sense of it, which can be attributed to the times and - and it helps to read the books some of the most notable noir films are based on, it is even more apparent in them. Imo.
