This has interesting implications for law enforcement in the wizarding world. Do we ever see a "good guy" in HP use the Killing Curse (besides Snape on Dumbledore)? Molly kills Bellatrix with another curse, I believe.

The Avada Kedavra is called an Unforgivable, and I wonder if that means that wizards avoid using it if it all possible even in self-defense or the defense of others because of the inevitable soul damage. I also wonder do the books say that the death has to come from the AK, or is it just that killing people in general is damaging to the soul? Like, could you hack somebody up with an axe and then make a horcrux?

I always imagined that the creation of a horcrux involved some sort of ritual, but I have no idea what it would be.

There's considerable fanon that the Unforgivables are termed as such because they deeply affect the caster in negative ways.
