Isn't there graffiti from Pompeii or something, complaining about "kids these days"? Pretty sure every generation has complained about the same things their parents did.

ot sure it was in ompei - but complaining about "kids these days" has been docoumented in Roman times, too.

Also the whole "OMG they're totally butchering the language, kids these days don't speak proper Roman!"

It's like the oldest complaint ever.

Don't know about graffiti, but there's this famous quote, supposedly by Socrates, via Plato (but maybe not from either of them):

The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.

That's the one I was thinking of! No Idea why I put it in Pompeii, but that's it.

I love the part about crossing their legs.

There is graffiti in pompeii that amounts to the following:

"Lol ur a gay"

"Lol I'm gay"

"I hit it (about a woman)"

"my girlfriend is hot shit"

"This gurl is a whore."
