Oh yeah, I remember being really annoyed at one point at XxxHolic because it completely spoiled a major plot point of Tsubasa with one of their crossovers (I was reading both but was farther ahead with Holic). It was really frustrating to have to read both of the series to try and figure out what was going on.

I have to wonder if CLAMP was trying to pull and American comic type "crossover." Like, take the Ultimate Marvel universe. How Ultimate X-Men had plots that ended up mixing with Ultimate Spiderman or Ultimates the Fantastic Four. If you read JUST the Ultimate X-Men, you missed out on story arcs that were mentioned, but you'd be all confused without it.

I hate that over here as much as I hate that over there. B/
