Pretty much. They needed to either have Tsubasa and xxxHolic more integrated or less. I think xxxHolic ends up the worse off of the two, though, because there are so many Tsubasa-related plot points that get referenced and then never explained in any way, which is really maddening.

Every time I ran into one of those (I don't read Tsubasa) I just did a mental "fuck it" and didn't even try and figure out what was happening. It actually made everything easier to follow because I wasn't trying to actually understand anything.
