Act normal, I get that you might be weirded out, but just act like you would to any other person... They are missing a limb or are in a wheelchair they are not stupid, if they need help they will ask for it and if they don't well, see my first point.

Heck I get enough of this and I only use crutches (or random bandages), seriously how hard can it be?

It is harder when people have some kind of retardation* again just act normal, and play it by ear, just like you would with a child (or another human being for that matter, because when we get down to it we are all different and have to be approached differently)

*Is that really the correct term? In Norwegian we use the expression "Mental Handicap"

'Retardation' is a medical term, but in the US, at least, it's frowned upon and not really in use anymore.
