If someone says they like swashbuckling movies, what do you mainly think of? Pirates, Zorro, musketeers, or something else entirely...?

(Asking for ficcing reasons, in case you're wondering!)

Pirates and masked bandits like Errol Flynn roles.

I wanted to foreshadow the character having a thing for Errol Flynn, so that's pretty much the perfect answer. Thanks!

Fantastic. You can never go wrong with Flynn.

Primarily pirates, but also secondarily feats of derring-do in the desert and / or jungle, possibly in search of valuable artifacts or treasure of some kind. Actually I think the treasure-hunting aspect is pretty key.

I think of pirates, but if someone were to add movies like Zorro or Three Musketeers to their definition of swashbuckling, I'd easily see where they were coming from.

I think of all of those, plus the Count of Monte Cristo and basically anything else that includes sword fighting. That word even comes to mind during that scene in V for Vendetta, but of course that word doesn't apply to the movie itself.

I think of Errol Flynn movies and pirates

All of the above.
I generally consider any film what has fencing style sword fighting in it.

Dashing young men with swords in a period piece. This usually tends to involve pirates.

I think of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, which is Napoleonic Wars-era sea battles with cannons, swords and such.

I think of mops for some reason. So, uh, I guess I think of pirates cleaning their ship or something.

Pirates. Maybe the 3 Musketeers second.
