I don't mind the lying, betrayal and manipulation but when he does all that and then gets self-righteous it's beyond annoying. He needs to grow up and realize what he's doing has removed any "rightness" he has

ayrt

I agree completely. I'm fine with villains who are blatantly villains (I like Clay a lot, and he's done as many horrible things as Jax). I just don't like characters who do absolutely horrible things, betray their friends, lie and manipulate, but are still self-righteous and holier-than-thou and think they have some sort of moral highground. That's the issue I have with Jax, so I think we actually agree, anon. :-)

No caps and "whatever man"? Back to Tumblr with you. Ugh.

Except that it's right in line with the model of Hamlet, who Jax is supposed to be based on. By the time this is over, Jax will have destroyed everyone around him, still thinking he's doing it for the right reasons, even as we think he's a moron. It's just harder to watch eventually 100-some hours of the behavior and still come out remembering why we felt for the guy, rather than only having to hold on to that feeling for three-ish hours.

Yeah, I never said it was bad writing or anything. SoA is an excellent show, Jax included. I just hate his guts. ;)

I know and I have the same problem with Hamlet.
