well that is the absolute last secret I would have expected to start that much wank.

true (boring) story: watching DS9 for the first time, I had a mild crush on Odo, but when this episode rolled around it was so horribly embarrassing that I hid my face in my hands and started rambling about Chinese food or something until the scene was over. he was never the same to me.

I know, right?

I mean, seriously. And the Kira storyline was just as bad in that regard IMO - just very... earnest schoolboy romance. Really odd tone. But Trek never really does romance well (as Ira Steven Behr pointed out, I believe in the context of talking about this episode)

Shirtless Odo somehow really weirds me out. I think for me there's some kind of disconnect from Odo's non-human shaped face with Rene's normal human torso. Something I've never really experienced with other characters even if they're all equally "rubber forehead aliens". Is that totally irrational?

However I think the most unsettling non-standard Odo outfit and makeup change is in "Children of Time". D:

Poor Rene had to shave his entire upper body for that scene in A Simple Investigation.

Looking back now, I wish they'd done something to cover his nipples up, but I'm weird like that. Maybe it's more IC for Odo to have them due to wanting to be as 'humanoid' as possible for Arissa.
