All of this is good advice, anon, and it works because it worked for me. But I would also add in that you don't need to completely cut out things like soda or coffee, just reduce the amount you drink. Limit yourself to one frappuchino a week or whatever.

Don't deny yourself all treats ever, because cravings will eat you alive. When you do have treats, enjoy them. Actually, try and enjoy everything you eat. If you see food as the enemy you're going to make problems for yourself.

I can't second this enough. If you're really craving french fries, go ahead and have the fries. What I found is that if you try to ignore cravings and substitute something else, what happens is that you'll end up eating a lot more of whatever else you're trying to use as a substitution and then it ends up being worse for you than if you'd just gone ahead and had the ice cream or fries or whatever in the first place.

Everything in moderation, anon. You don't have to stop eating the things you love, just eat less of them. Have one cookie instead of four, and after a while, you'll find you're perfectly satisfied with just one cookie. Just don't make food into the enemy, like the above anon says, because it's not.
