Well, I never saw them as positive. They just happen to be there as a surprise supporter, but I never got the impression that Araki tried to show them in a positive light. Joseph makes fun of them all the time and is reluctant to get help from Stroheim.

Also, you're really, REALLY missing out if you just stop now D: "Battle Tendency" is an awesome arc. You should definitely read the other parts though, there are no Nazis to be found there.

Maybe I'll try skipping ahead, then. I just could not stomach Nazis even as supporters (I'm Jewish). It took all the fun right out of it :(

Where did you stop reading "Battle Tendency"?

I know how you feel, I usually cannot stomach Nazis as well, but I just tend to ignore such characters in manga. I felt Stroheim was more of a parody rather than a "omg awesome Nazi for a change!".

I actually started watching the anime when it was coming out and everybody was squeeing about it (I hadn't really heard of Jojo before that). I got to approx... the 2nd episode with Stroheim? When I realized they weren't going to kill him off immediately, and he did something vaguely heroic.

I get where you're coming from, but even as a parody or even as not necessarily a "good guy", I don't think they deserve to be presented in any positive light at all. Especially not in a series like this. Especially not by Japanese, because hoo boy in WWII they were awful.
