Mosquito trap

I just made two of these, one for my yard and one for the deck of the house I'm staying at (dog sitting). Anyone else tried this, and do they work?

So far the one at my house has some bugs in it, can't tell if they're mosquitoes, though. Not that I mind killing some of the annoying little flies/gnats either.
