Just curious. Because I tried, and timed myself with http://www.online-stopwatch.com/ and I made it to 26 seconds, which seems really short.

I got 36 just now. Sounds about right, I guess.

41 seconds... I'll admit I only got that far because I felt determined to "beat" the responses so far.

It's alright OP, I got 25. I don't think I was trying that hard, but I wouldn't try too hard to hold my breath anyway because of my asthma.

When I was a kid, I once held my breath for a whole minute and a half. I was either a) cheating or b) having a really good day.

1:02, apparently. I think it would be less if I were doing something other than just sitting at my computer (swimming for instance).

Funny you mention that. I occasionally find myself wondering if I could hold my breath in the event of near-drowning, or gas leak, what have you. I've tried a few times and thought, "Yeah, I could make it to safety" because it felt like I would hold my breath for the longest time.

And now I know, I'd sink like a rock.

1:10 for me - my partner went for 1:36, the bastard.

There are a lot of factors that go into being able to hold your breath /shrug

Around 30 seconds is average, most people can only hold their breath a minute and a half at absolute maximum.

I made it 29 seconds.

Back when I was swimming competitively and free diving regularly, a little over 5 minutes.

Now, 2:30, apparently.

Still impressive.

38 seconds. I could probably do longer but my throat was starting to burn a little, and I only took a regular breath, not a deep one.

51 seconds c: I started wanting to breath again around 35sec mark

I really thought I would do better than that. :\a

1:03. 30 seconds is what I do to get rid of hiccups. It works.

(I just used the second-hand on my computer clock. I figure that's accurate?)

0:36 but I can hold it a lot longer when I'm swimming. I takes me almost two minutes to do a complete lap of my gym's pool and I do the whole thing under water.

Dammit, and that on my third try. I'm out of practice
