God, word on the tragedy of Farthing Wood. It was the most brutal after-school children's program ever. At one point it felt like there was going to be a death every episode. And the Hedgehogs! Trying to cross the highway! Oh, my heart!

I remember the newts being the first victims of that fire, but I always liked to believe that they survived under water some how. :( From then on it just got worse. The Fox and Wolf drama and even poor old badger got it in the end. I'm still traumatised by it all to this day!

Oh yeah, Badger's death was unexpected - just dying of old age. At least he was able to make up with his old friend Fox in time though (right? I'm hazy on the details). It's a good thing I wasn't exposed to the internet at that young age otherwise I probably would have ended up a demented Fox/Badger shipper - their friendship is so twu!

Sigh, and the son of Fox and Vixen who ran off (in a fit of adolescent indignation) and DIDN'T EVEN MAKE IT BACK TO THE PARK ALIVE - *bawls* They could have made it fit the prodigal son story-trope a bit more accurately and had him return to the fold where the rest of the gang could have held a party for him and cooked up their prize goat etcetc. I bet the writers made Jesus cry with their bittersweet twist on his nice, shiny parable.
