11. Thank you for being yet ANOTHER person to realize and verbally confirm these truths. H/G shippers = way worse than any other kinds of shippers in the fandom

Er - how? I've actually found them to be quite lovely. (Okay, so I am a shipper now... but mostly because it's canon, and it grew on me fast.) I agree that some are wanky, but every ship has it's wanky shippers.

I'm not really sure why you're asking me to explain instead of a comment asking the OP, but what the heck. I'll just give my 2 cents.

If you're a canon shipper now and you ship H/G, that would explain why you find them to be so lovely. Of course, you're not going to see much of the bad side if you like what they like.

But if you don't ship H/G, or you like Harry w/ anyone else, and if you have even just an icon that supports another ship or make a comment agreeing w/ someone about liking another kind of fic, more often than not, a H/G shipper will pick a fight w/ you in most general HP discussion posts about anything. You just get attacked. And it's usually when no one's brought anything up about ships.

Honestly, they were just fine and they seemed great mostly... until DH came out. Now, it seems like they're going all rabid and "ZOMG epilogue! WE WIN!! YOU LOSE! NANANA!" or "IF YOU DON'T SHIP CANON, LOLZ, YOU'RE CRAZY" (and I wish I were exaggerating more about people saying those things, but they do) and it is just very, very annoying when you just want to like what you like and be left alone and just get along.

But, like I said, that's my personal experience since July. I'm sure there are nice ones.

Shipping because it's canon is ridiculous. Shipping because it makes sense is not. Harry/Ginny doesn't make sense. At all.

Depends on what you mean by 'canon' in this particular fandom.

Ginny was a shy adoring troubled girl who got possessed by Voldie until GOF. Then in OOTP she apparently ditched her former personality and came out as sassy and not a little violent. Then HBP came along and Ginny was of a sudden the reincarnation of the sociopathic twins, always ready to shaft people with her One Hex for the stupidest reasons. One gets Bogeyed because he asks perfectly legitimate questions, another because he dares to voice opinions etc etc. What happened to pre-OOTP Ginny? No-one knows.

But, alright, this is all canon and JKR has another book coming in, right? Right. In DH Ginny is nothing more than the Elected Bride to the Chosen One. I mean, she's in real distress and Saint Harry just can't cope with it, so he goes hang about with his true soul-friends. Great basis for a marriage what?

Which Ginny did you find lovely with which Harry? Because, y'know, they change so much from book to book I'd find it hard to recognise them. Ecce!Ancilla!Dei!Ginny from HBP and DH won't bat an eyelid when her intended performs Dark Arts and Unforgiveables on people. I!Am!Your!Bestest!Fan!Ginny from COS wouldn't maybe have spoken, but she wouldn't have liked Harry to go so far darkside.

In other words, more power to you for liking canon characters - if one can call them so - and pairings, but I can understand the OP's call for some consistency in a series of books and for some broadminded views on the part of fans.
