A comedy movie that uses the word "faggot" outside a specific context is homophobic. A book in which none of the female characters have independent goals could possibly be sexist. "Problematic" accuses something of having problems but doesn't state what those problems are. It's vague, and it's a word often tossed about by those who cannot properly articulate what they want to yell about.

If you're saying "this movie is problematic because of the sexism and homophobia here and here" that's a bit different.
