Describing arousal

(Anonymous) 2013-06-01 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
I usually describe my own "turned on" feeling as sort of a "sick-feeling drop" in my stomach, but when writing, equating "this is turning me on" with "this is making me sick" is sort of...not good :/ But I'm not sure how else to describe it without sounding like a cliche fountain.

How would you describe the feeling of sudden arousal?

I know exactly the feeling you mean, and I used to describe it as feeling like going over a dip in the road, or down a small hill on a roller coaster.

I think most of the words I would use to describe it would sound sick, but you could put a spin on it like, "I felt something drop in my stomach, only it was oddly pleasant." (obviously better written than that, but you get my drift).

Maybe you could simply allude to it through signs of arousal e.g. clenching thighs, hardened nipples, secretion of pertinent fluids etc.

What I've seen is mostly things along the lines of "s/he felt heat rushing downwards/to pool in his/her belly/between his/her legs." Sometimes it's blood, but that can sound a little gross.

Now, does it actually feel like this? Not IMO. But there you go.

When I'm writing, I usually try to show it through actions, like breathing quicker, licking lips, stuff like that.
