I can't remember a time since the move to DW that we've had a Godwin secret, a racism debate, and problematic media discussion in the same post. It's almost like the bad old LJ days, just with a tiny fraction of the secrets.

This seems to be much more civil, though. Remember when sfd_anon used to make daily raids and there were at least two people who would comment on nearly everything I said with something rude and violent?

Random: The other day we got a new member in my guild by the username "deathtoll" and it took me forever to figure out why that seemed so familiar, like I should know that person. /random

I don't know what their username is in reference to, but mine goes back quite a ways. I was really big into Duke Nukem 3D in the early 2000s and when I needed a username for Livejournal I picked this song for inspiration. The full name was "Taking the Death Toll" but filenames were only 8 characters long back then, hence the shortened form. It's not even that good a song, but it was the default music for user maps so I heard it a lot.
