"Exotic good looks?"

(Anonymous) 2013-06-03 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
That's not the word *I* would have chosen to incredulously italicize, but I don't want to be ugly!anon.

Danish isn't exactly what one generally considers "exotic", though.

Hey, Mikkelsen isn't usually the type of guy I go for. (Dancy is more my type.) But you have to admit the man has one of the most perfectly symmetrical faces out there. I can see how that would press the primal "good looks" button in people.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-03 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I just... "symmetrical" only gets you so far when I keep expecting him to flick out his tongue and catch flies. There's just something about his face that reads as reptilian or frog-like to me.

I think it's the lack of any strong facial hair including eyebrows and his hair style too smooth in the show. Because he looks completely different shaggy and with a beard.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-03 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah; while he does still have uncomfortably thin and wide lips, he definitely looks less froggy there. The facial hair really helps.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-03 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
He looks less froggy, but still ugly, like a shaggy, dirty, old wolf or something.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-04 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
At least he looks like a mammal. It's a step up.

I think it's a Dane thing. They have such strong bone features that it can look startling with them cleaned up too much. But scruff them up and they become handsome. It's their Viking blood, I guess. They are meant to look hairy and beard covered.

Like Viggo Mortensen, who is half Dane but looks very much so, looks odd cleaned up but give him a bit of beard and shaggy hair and viola! HOT!

He looks like he is constantly sucking on a lemon...still sour but he has gotten bored with it.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-03 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude looks like an alien being (and a magnificent one at that), so...yeah?

(Anonymous) 2013-06-04 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Well, obviously they're referring to the looks the actor inherited from his grandmother, from Innsmouth.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-04 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
It's not his fault she was an eldritch abomination.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-04 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't it that people are copulating with the eldritch abominations, rather than actually being them? But you're right, it's not his fault at all.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-04 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
They are, and the offspring eventually turn into fishmen. They all go back to Y'ha-nthlei.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-04 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Would that explain his apetite, I wonder?
