What on earth does that even mean? Possibly a term that is explained in Gender Studies 101, but I'm sure that they could substitute the phrase with something more comprehensible.

It's the idea that girls/women inherently have XYZ traits, and boys/men inherently have ABC traits.

That could be an example, but it's more than physical traits. For example: "girls are natural mothers, love flowers and have a profound bond with vacuum cleaners", "boys never cry, connect with football on an emotional level, and only love watching action movies."

Actually, reducing people to their primary/secondary sex characteristic is biological essentialism.
