fwiw i've never actually seen someone get called a 'gender essentialist' before, which further makes me think the OP is probably a troll

it's a useful term, but it's always used to describe attitudes and beliefs, because on its own it's not really an effective label

but basically yeah it's a rabbit hole of pretentiousness
