It's a rock and a hard place tbh. But I can see from their perspective-- I'm a huge Hannibal fan, and I invited friends from my other major fandom (Vikings, not part of the superfandom) to come onboard as well, though I didn't participate in the active solicitation of the Superwho borg-- that they wanted more people to watch the show because it's good, and also because it was about to be canceled. And then they didn't think it through that those people might want to absorb Hannibal into the collective.

Honestly I think Fannibals just want to be by themselves without being bothered by anyone else, but they DID seek out a ratings boost to help keep the show on air. If somehow that costs some kind of currency in fandomland then I guess Hannibal needs to become part of the superfandom to pay its dues?
