This is really the weird thing. I haven't seen the movie, so I can't judge, but from what I'm gathering it sounds like he may as well be a completely different character?

That always seems disingenuous to me, like they're just using his name to sell something about the franchise without the substance behind it, because they're afraid that the new character wouldn't be able to hook people on his own merit alone.

Like when DC revealed that the ~the original green lantern is gayyyy~ solely in a sad attempt to compete with marvel's impending gay marriage comic.
