I don't know, I feel like lots of small fandoms have very high standards... Not that they can afford to be picky if they want fanworks, but still.

Yay, maths secret! Though in my experience there's an anti-correlation, not a correlation, and I'm in the corner marked 'small fandom' and 'high standards'. Sorry that's not your experience, OP!
