But lots of people put ketchup on french fries and burgers and those definitely aren't just kid foods. I'm sure most kids wouldn't mind eating either of those things sans ketchup.

(I have no kids though, so idk about the 'to make kids eat it' thing. There are only a handful of foods I use ketchup on, but I do like it.)

What country are you in? Ketchup is marketed to adults/as regular all-ages food, where I am. (Admittedly, some of the commercials are hilarious. Like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_vssdys8lk

It's only kidly of you to like ketchup if you're using to make yourself eat stuff that you would otherwise side-eye suspiciously.

Unless you are at a state dinner in a foreign capital and they serve you a plate of dry-fried crickets that you don't dare refuse for fear of offending the head of state and causing an international incident. Then, it's totally grown up of you to request ketchup for your crickets, while claiming that you always eat your crickets "Santa Fe Style".

Yeah, not in my country either. It's just a condiment, like mayo or mustard. Actually the thing we use to make kids eat stuff is apple sauce.
