Transcription of secret 1

(Scarecrow from Batman)

I don't think I've related to a character as much as him. He helped me through a suicidally depressed period in my life and inspired me to follow my dream to pursue a career in psychiatry.

Secret because I don't think I should find such relation and comfort in a disturbed, anit-social maniac.

BS: I cut my hair short and started dyeing it copper because of him.

Oh, stuff it. Blind people aren't the only ones who benefit from transcription- If you'd been paying any attention whatsoever, you'd have seen that there's at least two or three different users with lousy eyesight who have expressed their gratitude since this started, plus an undefined number of anons.

And even if they were the only ones helped, something like this could allow F!S to have more than 0 blind followers. At 9-10 secrets per post, we need all the new blood we can get.

Yep I have dodgy eyesight and was not bothering reading some secrets, so this is a great service!

I'm one of those thankful anons. Some secrets are simply not worth the headache they cause if I try to read them, so transcriptions are very appreciated.

I, for one, think it's a kind thing you're doing.

heh, this actually makes me wonder if the OP is a particular person I (used to) know.

well! regardless if you are or aren't, OP, whatever helps you get through the worst and stay alive is a good thing. there's no real "should" in it. after all, your dream is a career in psychiatry, not killing people, right?

You know, I feel like Johnny Crane would be pretty okay with knowing he inspired someone. I like to believe that even if he's psycho, there's still that inherent love of science and knowledge that comes with the field that he'd appreciate sharing with others.

I love Scarecrow. He's 2nd only to Two-Face as my favorite comicbook villain.

Not sure if you've read it, OP, but get your hands on "Joker's Asylum: Scarecrow #1". Crane goes all protective on a client who's getting bullied. It's endearing, in a violently insane way.

I think any good character, whether they be good, bad, or somewhere in-between, has a element of relatability (relatable-ness?). What's interesting to me about Scarecrow is that he may be a homicidal maniac, but he HAS been shown multiple times throughout the comics protecting people that HE identifies with. For example, in the collected paperback of "Mad Love," there's a great story from Animated-Series-verse about Scarecrow trying to start a new life as a lecturer at a small college, forming a bond with a bright female student, learning that she was abused in some way (the comic never specifies) by her date, and going TOTALLY WACKO on the abusive partner, who has never harmed Scarecrow in any way. I like the tension between his ability to commit truly horrifying acts of violence and the suggestion that he DOES feel empathy in some capacity.
