Thirsty?

[personal profile] mekkio 2013-06-05 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Imagine it's hot outside, for some of you, that shouldn't be a problem. You are thirsty. Very thirsty. Now, my question is, what do you usually go for in this moment, water, soda, milk, iced/sweet tea, lemonade, juice, Kool-Aid/Hawaiian Punch/some kid's drink variation, beer or other? And if other, what is it?

And also, do you drink water with ice or without it? (I've been told a ton of ice with water is much more of an American thing than for anyplace else.) So, the added question to go along with the ice cube query is, what country are you from?

Plain water if I'm really thirsty. Just thirsty, juice or cordial.

And I never add ice to my water. It's too cold! (France)

Water. Occasionally I'll add ice but usually just let the tap run cold and drink. And I'm American.

Usually orange juice, maybe some kind of fizzy drink if I have some around, but I usually don't. If I have neither I just drink water (I almost always have a glass around in my room, just in case). I do not know what Kool-Aid or Hawaiian Punch is.

I don't take ice because they freeze my teeth. If I want cold water I just take stuff chilled from the fridge. tbh I rarely see people put ice in their water.

Lemonade. With ice, if it's really hot, but not a lot of it. Just a couple of cubes.

If it's very very hot, and I want to cool down more than I want a drink, I might have a glass of ice cubes (with a bit of water to stop them sticking together) but that would be ice with water, not water with ice.

I'm Australian.

Water, usually. Sometimes sweet tea or cold beer. Nothing else really quenches thirst, for me. Definitely not carbonated drinks.

I don't usually put ice cubes in my water when I'm drinking it unless it's an extremely, extremely hot day, but I'm familiar with the practice, and I am from the USA.

Cider. Alcoholic Cider. Sweet.

Water. We always have a big bottle or whatever in the 'fridge, so no ice. I do like ice in it if i'm 'out', though (at a restaurant or whatever).

Juice would come in second.

If I'm thirsty, I'm dehydrated. If I'm dehydrated, the quickest way to cure that is with water. I'll generally drink it straight from the tap or filter if I'm combating immediate thirst, but I'll throw ice into a cup of water if I'm drinking it over time. I'm in the US.

Tap water, room temperature, no ice. Never ice. Ice makes beverages way too cold and then they hurt my teeth. I'm American.

Tap water, I don't really like drinking refrigerated anything unless it's milk. It just changes the flavor of everything in a way I don't like for some reason. I have no idea why but I've always been that way.

I think the best choice for me is carbonated water, because it quenches my thirst and is as enjoyable as soda. I feel like a lot of the other choices would just make me thirstier.

As for Ice, I enjoy a good amount of ice if I'm not paying a lot for it like a fast food place.

Lemonade, if it's available, maybe with a little cranberry juice in it too.

Usually I'll go for water, preferably with ice. I love ice, and yes, I am from America.

If I'm sort of thirsty but lounging instead of walking around, I'd go for lemonade. Or a cocktail. A nice, frozen cocktail.

I need a margarita.

Water. I didn't used to drink it with ice, but now that we have a fridge with an ice dispenser in the door I've come to appreciate ice more.

Whatever's in a can in the fridge. At the moment, that's apple juice. (We buy a lot of canned juices.) If I can be bothered, sometimes I go for soda regardless of canned status. It's not just convenience; I can rub the can along my neck or forehead to keep cool too.

I don't drink a lot of water, but water's the only thing I'll drink with ice in it at all willingly--but just a bit, and preferably crushed, not cubed. Canada.

Chocolate milk or Newman's Own pink lemonade (it has to be that specific one, idk why). I'm from the USA and drink water without ice simply because we keep a water filter in the refrigerator. If the filter's empty I'm fine drinking tap, but there has to be a couple ice cubes in it unless I'm dehydrated.

Our water is foul. I go for soda, or if I'm thirsty enough and it's available, some sort of lemonade. Gatorade will also suffice.

I'm too lazy to go get water so I drink soda when I have it. (If I had bottled water I would drink that, but I never buy that.)

I put ice in water if there's an ice-dispensing machine, if not I just drink the water without it. Yes, I am super lazy. Though, this is partially because I don't like the taste of ice that has been sitting in the freezer, and usually find that I don't notice the taste as badly if I get it out of the ice-dispenser.

And I'm American.

I might drink a glass or two of water before going for something else (vitamin water, iced tea, maybe ginger ale). I usually drink the water so I can reward myself with the more sugary beverage, lol -- if I've just worked up a sweat, though, the water alone might be satisfying enough. I'm in the US and rarely drink with ice (I used to like ice well enough, but now it hurts my teeth).

Always plain water.

I keep some refrigerated so it's always cold, putting ice in it depends. If it isn't refrigerated I always want ice in it, about half the glass-full so I can keep pouring water over it and watch it melt and so my water is super cold.

From the US.

On a day like that, I'd like a nice cold cup of water. Most times I like ice with it, but if there aren't any around, I can do without.

And yes, I'm American. I love ice in my cold drinks.

Juice or water.

I always add exactly two ice cubes to my water. I'm American.

If I'm SUPER thirsty water.

If I want a really yummy drink, iced tea and lemonade is my favorite. I'm also really bad about drinking too much diet soda; I just love it too much. I could also go for a beer right now.
