(Anonymous) 2013-06-06 02:10 am (UTC)(link)In the books, all we are told is that it requires a murder, and that it splits your soul, and possibly a specific dark magical ritual to prepare the object that will act as a vessel, but Rowling insinuates that the "disgusting act" is something besides the murder.
To reabsorb the Horcrux, you only have to regret the murder, I think, which makes me wonder if the "disgusting act" was made up later on by Rowling to keep interest in the series alive, or something.
