Yeesh. I LIKE this Moriarty and I don't think that argument hold water. Yeah, the entire show tends to be over the top, but he's over the top in the context of the show. I think that was the point, but whether it works or not is debatable. I can certainly see why some people think it doesn't.

EXACTLY! And, yeah, he's supposed to be OTT and I get that, but I think it was a bad decision... None of the other villains are this outre so he just kinda comes out of no where with all this; if ALL the villains were over the top like this, I could see it, but they're really not. Plus, as others have said, his type of character doesn't fit with "runs a multinational criminal organization".

This. No one this ridiculously obsessed with stalking one guy would have the time and attention span to run a multinational criminal empire.
