I agree. This is as politely and gentle as such a message can be delivered, and the friend sounds like she desperately needs the wake up call. Whether she listens or not, is another thing entirely, but it needs to be said or the relationship will crumble anyway. At least this way there is a chance of the relationship becoming healthy.
