Thanks for the tips! It's kind of humid and wet out, so we'll probably give it two days to dry. He managed to flip the computer upside-down just seconds after it happened, so hopefully it didn't get a chance to seep too far in. And before we turned it off and pulled the battery, the screen wasn't giving any indication of things going wrong inside. So here's hoping all will be well! *fingers crossed*

That sounds promising! Especially that it got turned upside down immediately, I think that'll work very well in your favour.

The only other problem I can think of is that because it's soup (which has salt and so on as well as water), things might be sticky even after it's all dried out. Because of that, the keyboard may malfunction or get jammed. There could also be damage internally that affects the computer in the long term. If you notice anything dodgy once you turn it back on, take it in for a professional to look at, just in case. Or a friend you feel you can trust with the dismantling of the laptop, either or. :P
