I feel like you're just trying really hard not to see anything problematic in a show you like (other wise why these things ~ pretty obvious indicator of your disdain for the topic).

It's okay to realize that there's problematic stuff in a show - you don't have to pretend that other people are just making stuff up instead of just disliking a character.

heh "problematic" we got an SJW right here. Yep, if you are so good at writing, what channel does your show air on?

(Anonymous) 2013-06-10 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait, so to recognise that something could be improved upon you have to actually be an expert in that field yourself?

I've got no horse in this race, but "let's see you do better" is never a particularly good line of argument. One doesn't have to be a chef to know when they're eating a crap sandwich. (Not that Doctor Who is necessarily a crap sandwich. Just... sayin'.)

I'm sorry, where the fuck did I say I wrote anything? Why the fuck would I have to write anything? I don't even like writing.

Also, what word is should I use to talk about the shitty stuff people write/do/say?

How about you don't use any words and leave fandom for the people who enjoy the show instead of trying to soil their enjoyment with your pointless whining. It isn't like the BBC cares, and Moffat just laughs at you and puts jokes about your whining in the shows.

It's possible to enjoy a show and dislike elements of it at the same time. I love the characters, but I hate how they're written. I will talk about both if I want to. I love that River is badass and determined and won't let anything stand in her way. I don't like that she's only badass and determined and won't let anything stand in her way toward one thing. I love that Clara is cute and maternal at the same time. I hate that her storyline is pretty much a rehashed version of Amy's storyline. And it is perfectly okay to say all of that!

This is a really common logical fallacy; critics don't have to be successful or even within the field to be successful at criticism. You're just using that to shut down conversation.

oh, how little you are. I feel sorry for you.
