Except no. They don't like her actual character. They like their Mary Sue version of her character that they've created in their head and are just whining and bitching that Moffat and Kingston are not producing their ever so perfect fanfic. The stuff most of those misogyny-claimers put out as their reasoning or stories is just fucking stupid.

Except no. Maybe the people you see that's what they're doing, but I know plenty of people who like her actual in show canon character. I'm not even talking about fanfic here, just the show.

Yeah, no. Not even close. The ones that bitch about her character show a fundamental misunderstanding of the character, generally willfully so, and rewrite her with their delusional version.

Intense generalization and misogynistic language - really backing up your point. *sarcasm*

Okay first of all you do realize that different interpretations of characters are valid, right? So "a fundamental misunderstanding of the character" is kind of a hilarious concept.

Second of all, still not talking about fanfic so there is no rewriting going on.

Third of all, you're coming off as one of those types that sees "misogyny" and immediately goes mad attack mode not even attempting to understand others point of view. Which is the vibe I got from the secret too.

I don't know the first thing about what character this is, but that isn't exactly true. Or more specifically, it's only true to a certain point. You can only interpret something so many ways before it stops being in line with what canon gives us. It's quite possible for someone's interpretation of a character to be completely wrong and contradictory to canon.

"I don't know the first thing about what character this is"

And you are commenting because why?

Re: da

Because on F!S all you need is an opinion!

because they don't need to know about the fandom or character to have a point, which they do.

interpretations can be flat-out wrong if they aren't consistent with canon. in fact, the "different interpretations are valid" argument is usually the first thing trotted out when someone is trying to defend writing a character ooc in a fic. you can have a fundamental misunderstanding of a character, not all interpretations hold the same weight and sometimes people are just totally off.

I am 99.99999999% certain the majority of DW fandom regards the character (in the show) AS fanfic, so there's that, too.

lol, but no.
