(Anonymous) 2013-06-11 12:41 am (UTC)(link)I might despise the conclusion of it, (I don't think Handler planned things out very well,) but to me, it was a creepy bunch of books that made me laugh and taught me things. Also I always liked books which had villains that were real people over unstoppable supernatural beings. Olaf was a bad guy who seemed like he'd exist in real life, which made him even scarier.
In short, I understand why people wouldn't like the books (repetitive, confusing near the end, explaining a lot of the plot rather then showing it,) but the macabre nature of the books made me love them.
