So I'm reading a Teen Wolf fic where Derek, at the advice of the therapist he's seeing, starts dating. He's totally in love with Stiles, but he wants to, well, practice being in a relationship beforehand. It's fucked up, he knows it's fucked up, but he does it anyway.

The thing is, a few years ago this wouldn't have bothered me AT ALL. In fact, I would have been very interested in that scenario because yay, drama! I wouldn't have cared about the woman he's seeing at all, to be honest.

Something's apparently changed because I'm really, really upset by what he's doing, and all I can think about is how little the woman deserves such treatment and how hurt she's going to be when he finally breaks it off with her-- which he will.

It's kind of bizarre when you're faced with such blatant proof that you aren't the same person you once were. D:

I know exactly the story you are talking about and yeah, a few years ago I would have thought that story was perfect but not now. And that story was so close to being amazing but had so many obvious plot devices. A lot of "yes you are going in the right direction wait wait why are you dropping that whole thing and moving on to something new nooooooo".

Yeah. In my case, it's looking back to college when I was a crazy libertarian. I got better.

I'm not particularly grown up so could you give me a link to this fic?

I've grown up enough to find Derek's behavior towards the women atrocious, but not enough to be put off by the fic. I'm still a drama whore, and that's probably never gonna change. =p
