Which is funny, because isn't guy/guy shipping very much a "girl" thing? Male slash has been dominated by women since the Star Trek zines back in the seventies.*

yeah, but the canon it's based of off is very much a "guy" buddy/buddy show, and originally aimed at that demographic.

Come on, they got on board with their actual female-heavy viewership so long ago that hardly even registers anymore.

That's what they were targeting, but the fanbase is known for being largely female. There's still a lot of "lol stupid fangirls liking things" that's directed at the fandom. It's just that they don't usually assume that everyone's a teenage girl like they do with Twilight fandom.
