Can I ask why you're opposed to the adultary option? The comic turned Ozai/Ursa intensely squicky and rape-y to me, which makes the idea that she was "at least" also having an affair with a man she loved and consented to a weird kind of relief to me personally.

I guess if it was a marriage she didn't want, that's kind of different, but... I dunno...

I mean, shit, you can be damn sure that if I ever got forced into a marriage I'd still fuck around. I'm getting some consensual and probably much more enjoyable sex/emotional relationship stuff come hell or high water.

She also possibly committed murder, and she definitely left her young children behind with her horrible husband... do you see me criticizing her for those things? Things that are arguably WORSE?

And honestly, I wouldn't blame you. But writers have control over the world they create in a way real life people do not have control over the world they live in. As I mentioned below, the writers of these books could have NOT written her into such a bad situation that cheating seemed like a good idea.

I think the implication is that she got pregnant from this other guy before she married Ozai, and Zuko was born in a time frame where it was thought he'd been conceived whe Ozai and Ursa consummated their marriage. So it's not like she actively cheated on Ozai, just wrote letters to her old love.

They've already showed that Ursa was sending Ikem love letters. If they really want to have a 'One of the children isn't Ozai' plot, then it won't be Zuko. That negates all of his growth during the tv series. It could be that it's true, though, and Zuko is Ikem's, and that's why Ozai said he'd kill him if she didn't kill his father for him.

The Search 2 comes out in July. We'll see then, eh.

The blurb for the book states they find out something "big" that they might not "be able to handle". Either Zuko isn't Ozai's, or Azula isn't.

...Why? I haven't been following the manga so perhaps I'm missing something, but Zuko's gone this far being believed to be Ozai's, Azula was pretty thoroughly discredited in the series ending, and Zuko is friends with the Avatar. Even if he's not Ozai's, wouldn't him losing the throne depend on who finds out and how politically convenient or inconvenient it is to piss off Aang and a good number of other influential people in the other countries by outing and ousting Zuko?

lol. You'd really rather her not have 'cheated' on the man who forced her into marrying him, locked her up in his palace, refused to let her see her friends and family, and just used her to gain power/an heir?

No, I'd rather they not have written her into such a bad situation the first place. Cuz that's the thing; if she is cheating, and if it is "justified" by her husband being horrible to her, it's the same people who wrote both those situations.
