As mentioned, they both managed to live without each other, while still being affected by loss/trauma, without trying to kill themselves or anything. They also seem to be getting better at it as part of their growth, so I don't understand why people are using examples from previous seasons.

This is it true. In season 4, we see Sam near-suicidal whileDean was gone. He tried making deals but no one would deal. He went after Lilith before he was ready...even Ruby called it suicidal. So I don't see how that's much different from Bella wanting to kill herself.

Except Sam and Dean stop doing that shit eventually while Bella shows no sign that she would stop herself. They grow. She stagnates.

There's nothing in the novels that show that she's learned to live without Edward. Or that she realizes that her attitude towards him is incredibly unhealthy.

da. How does she change? Except into a vampire, because that doesn't count - that's just the ultimate stagnation. Seriously, I only read the first book, so I'm curious and would be pleasantly surprised if she did eventually show some emotional growth.
