Re: They're fucked up in entirely different ways, though.

I really kinda disagree with almost all of this. Dean was parentified as a kid, sure, and he was taught to believe that Sam's needs far outweighed his own. But Dean is perfectly capable of saying "no" to Sam, especially if he thinks it wouldn't be in Sam's best interest. And Sam wanting to start an incestuous relationship? Even Winchesters are aware that's fucked up and not good for you. Dean would put his foot down for Sam's own good. Sam's health (mental and physical) comes above his happiness.

Likewise, while Dean was parentified, Sam never seemed to regard Dean as a parent and certainly didn't regard him with the authority a parent might have. Even way back in early S1 we see Sam struggling with the idea that Dean knows more and so he should listen to him - even though back then, it made absolute sense that Dean take the lead on hunts. He's the one who was doing it for years while Sam was away (and had been doing it for years even before Sam started to hunt to begin with). Dean had the experience and Sam didn't, but Sam wasn't at all inclined to listen to him. For that matter, Dean wasn't really inclined to make Sam listen except about stuff where John was concerned or (again) to protect Sam's life.

So I can't see Sam being likely to obey Dean here. And I just really don't see Dean fixating on Sam sexually. Maybe if they were raised in complete isolation, but they weren't - Dean had hook ups from high school on and one of the few things that's healthy about him is his mentality towards sex. His very not-at-all-focused-on-his-kid-brother sex life.

In fact, Dean being so concerned with Sam's health is a major reason I can't read Weecest. I just don't buy any Dean who focuses on Sam sexually and would be willing to carry on with that interest, especially not if Sam is still a teenager (or God forbid younger).

I ship Sam/Dean and love the pairing, but I just can't see it springing up from what you've described here.

Yeah. Exactly what you said.

I just started the series, and don't ship them exactly for what you point here.

Dean completely puts his brother's happiness over his own, in all senses and situations. EVEN if for some reason, he happened to start thinking about teenager Sam in a sexual way, he would never purse it because it would be against Sam's well being. And that's the one thing that Dean puts over everything in his life.
