A few years back, I found a poem I wrote when I was 11, and was surprised at how good it was. It needed a little upgrading, but truth be told, I don't think I've ever written anything better (aside from one singular example, which I meticulously slaved over for three days).

I periodically go back over fanfiction I wrote in 2008 (I was 14/15) and cringe hardcore about how crappy it is. But on the other hand, it makes me feel better because it means I'm making progress.
