HOLY SHIT

[personal profile] tyger66 2013-06-12 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
I've never met another human outside my family who has even heard of Three Men in a Boat. My dad used to read bits of it to me when I was a child.

(My absolute favorite part was when they desperately needed a can opener. That part could get me falling over with laughter)

Not OP but I agree, it's great.

There really are some wonderful things you can find if you spend enough time randomly poking around Project Gutenberg.

It's probably my favorite non-fanfiction thing that I have on my Kindle.

YANA

I came across it a few years ago through an audio recording that made me laugh until I cried. I had to stop listening to it on the way to work because I was scared I was going to hit someone in the bumper to bumper traffic. I finally bought the book a few months later and it's probably the funniest book in my collection (not counting Wodehouse, of course).

Connie Willis refers to Three Men in a Boat quite a bit in the book To Say Nothing of the Dog. I think that was what got me to check it out.
