Being an immigrant is really the only reason anyone could have of being "proud" of where they live. If you were born and raised there, you didn't do jack shit to get there, so there's really no place of being proud - unless you've taken significant part in shaping your community.

Pride in where you live just because it's nice, if you didn't actively choose or contribute it, isn't gross - it's just totally unjustified.

Because justified pride is linked to achievement? And you can't "achieve" being born somewhere?
