I don't know the actor but I don't think it matters. I've watched many movies for certain actors and come away disliking or even actively hating them.

I thought he was okay in Bridesmaids. Loved him in this though (even if I do ignore a lot of series 4... some weird episodes there. Looking forward to a "closure" of sorts this winter!)

I have never EVER encountered an actor, director, writer, musical artist, political pundit, etc where I loved and/or agreed with everything they did, and I'm not even sure why I, or any one else, would be expected to.

Nah, I think Bridesmaids was overrated--some parts were really funny, but some of it didn't work for me. I think the whole bridal shop sequence is just dumb and not funny. Though I guess I have issues with The IT Crowd at times as well, but he got to show off his hilarity more there.

Bridesmaids could be called a "chick comedy" as much as it wants, but it was NOT. Ugh, that movie is disgusting, petty, and completely unfunny.

Can I have fun chick comedies that aren't chick flicks, written by a woman, and not just full-on disgusting?

I mean, like, it seemed to be saying "chicks can be just as funny as dudes, if not more so, OBVIOUSLY," which is a point that needs to be made and often, but, like...why did we have to go for moronic toilet humor to make that point? I get that they were saying that women can be gross too and not just ~ladylike or whatever that bullshit is, but personally I don't find that kind of thing funny when guys do it, either. It's just stupid. And I often find that women write way smarter comedy than guys do [MISANDRY.gif], so why are we sinking to the level of their easy jokes? And I was also a bit annoyed at Annie becoming a super-shitty friend because of her jealousy, though at least they weren't just fighting over a dude. So, you know.

I hated Bridesmaids. (But then, I've yet to like a Judd Apatow movie.) Chris was the only part of Bridesmaids worth watching.

I didn't even know Chris O'Dowd had a fan base. I hated Bridesmaids, it was so miserable. He is pretty good though but not the most amazing actor I've seen.

I love Chris O'Dowd but I didn't know he has any sort of huge or rabid fanbase. IT Crowd is one of my most favorite shows of all time. Bridesmaids was almost unwatchable in places. He's awesome in Pirate Radio, too! But you SHOULDN'T love everything he's ever done, because he's done some mediocre stuff! It's maybe not his fault but any kind of film or show is a collaborative product and you can't always get the right combination of people. An actor does a different job every time; it's silly to love someone blindly.

I preferred him in IT crowd too, between the three of them in that the humour really works imho. Bridesmaid was a good film that I enjoyed but much preferred him in IT crowd.
