It's kind of sad, really. When she's drunk seems to be the only time Rose appears legitimately happy.

I kind of disagree. She's more giggly and flirtatious but it's obvious she's trying to hide a lot of sadness, so she doesn't really seem 'legitimately' happy to me. She seemed happy when she was talking to her friends pre-sburb, dancing with Dave on Derse, falling in love with Kanaya, pretending to be her cat's therapist, making snow eldritch abominations, etc. She's been through a lot and she's coping the only way she knows how.
