It's totally valid for you to be irritated that your family decided to make your birthday all about someone else. That's just a failure of basic consideration, and I'm glad you found something to make the day not entirely shitty.

Yup. They couldn't even take a five minute break to like, raise a glass of orange juice and congratulate OP? Who would it hurt if the other guests knew it was OPs birthday? Just being acknowledged on your birthday can be pretty nice all in itself.

Yep. They could have acknowledged you at least once. Adult birthdays still matter, even if there's not as much of a song and dance as for kids. My family always has dinners if someone in the family has a birthday. (Well, they didn't for me for years, but I was the black sheep, so that's what that says about ignoring my birthday.)

My birthday is the same as my newborn, so I fully expect no one to remember mine once he's older! I personally don't mind though, but that's just me.

Being composed and gracious about the issue in public is the "adult" thing to do, which it sounds like OP was.

Being hurt by feeling brushed aside and unacknowledged just because it's convenient for your family to pack things onto the same day is perfectly normal and perfectly human at any age.
