Children need/get attention, but they also need to learn to share the spotlight. It would have been nice to have the parents at least acknowledge the aunt's birthday. The kid wouldn't have any less presents or cakes, but they might also learn the idea that not everything is ALL about them. Even on their birthday.

It was my impression that they did--but OP was still upset because it was "an afterthought."

I thought they didn't, since the little text at the bottom says "no one else at the get-together being told it was my actual date of birth."

When OP said that they were "an afterthought" I assumed that their turning 35 had been acknowledged in some way, but you could well be right.
