the representation on failings is a good thing

go to extremes with representation of addictions and people go "well, at least I'm not getting into fistfight/hitting my wife and children/losing my job" etc., and feel they're okay

it reminds me of when addicts in rehabilitation would come visit our school to warn us about the dangers of addiction and my classmates would say, afterwards, that "well, I didn't end up in the streets/hurting people/in jail, so I'm okay!" and then not take them seriously
